Biggest Fans

We're thankful for the many people who have been a part of Hannah's journey to wellness.  Hannah's biggest fans are her 3 big brothers who care deeply for her!  They are always willing to talk with her, play with her, encourage her and assist with her many therapies.  She would not have reached some of her past milestones if not for their continual encouragement for her (and us) to press forward.  There's no truer love than that of older brothers who would do anything for their little sister... the one they've awaited for many years.

Hannah is a gift to Marcella and me.   Despite much of the unplanned excitement she’s brought us, we can no longer imagine life without her.  She’s done so much in such a short time to help  us refocus on the bigger questions in life.  Having a child in recovery does that to you...helps you not to sweat the small stuff and simultaneously makes faith in God a necessary quality for daily survival.  We continue to commit Hannah to His hands...the Author and Finisher of our faith.

In Hannah's short life we've also been blessed by the support of many friends.  At three weeks old Hannah almost spent her first Christmas at the hospital on her own, but we were blessed by our friend (Tracie) who made a special trip to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to hold her on Christmas morning and to say a prayer for her!  We'll never forget this gift and will tell the story to Hannah when she is older.  If you're reading this Tracie, please know we love you and thank you for being there when we needed you!

And then came Salomon... our good friend and brother.  Salomon was with us from  the beginning of Hannah's journey.  Through God's peculiar timing he spent a year with us and was a great addition to our family.  Our boys absolutely love him!  Salomon made many a trip to the Cheesecake Factory to satisfy Marcella's emergency midnight cravings for low carb cheese cake :-) and became a surrogate parent to the boys while we spent countless hours at the hospital after Hannah was born.  It's not possible to summarize the tremendous blessing he’s been to us.  We love you Salomon! (Prov 18:24)

"Miss Angela!!!"  -what the boys would yell when Angela walked through the door before they all simultaneously leeched on.  Angela stayed with us briefly when Hannah was only a few months old.  Angela has helped us in so many ways with so many things.  Our time with her before she moved out-of-state to help her father was much too short!  We consider her our sister and she is a wonderful aunt to the kids.  She has a special place in her heart for Hannah, and we all love her!

Uncle Jerry and Aunt Judy have been a constant source of financial support from the start of Hannah's therapy –the bulk of which is not covered under our medical plan.  Marcella’s inability to work her usual hours along with our new bills from hospital visits, surgeries and the non-conventional therapies has pushed our expenses well beyond our earnings.  We’ve only recently been able to regain our balance and catch up on the unexpected debt we incurred over the past year -thanks in large part to the generosity of Hanna's uncle and auntie!     –Thank you!

Tamia is one of our most animated friends :-) and a constant source of emotional and spiritual support.  With six of her own children she's always made room for ours in her home and heart.  Through our many ups and downs over the years, she's been a constant companion.  We expected no less when Hannah arrived and true-to-form she has remained engaged and supportive throughout our journey.  We are blessed to have her as one of our closest friends!

Aaron and Michelle have been Hannah's constant prayer warriors since she came into  the world.  When we became discouraged and hopeless they stood in the gap for us.  During the many days that we almost stopped believing in the power of miraculous healing, their faith gave us the strength to pick up the pieces time and again.  To date, Hannah's therapists and multiple doctors are perplexed by the strides she's made in spite of her pervasive injury.  Her achievements are partially due to her mom's relentless commitment to her well-being and equally due to the many answered prayers from our most enduring friends.  One day when she has the words she will thank you herself  -We love you much!

Julie is the older daughter for which we've always hoped.  Not unlike many of our friendships our lives intersected under frenzied circumstances.  The gift of her love would not become apparent to us until many months later (after Hannah was born).  Her love for Hannah is pure and simple.  She thinks of Hannah while at home, in school and even during her vacations away... and always brings something home for her.  Despite her very busy and intense schedule, she's taken many a trip from PA to NJ to nurture Hannah while we were working to make ends meet.  We're blessed and thankful to have her as a part of our family... We love you!
